Masterchefs’ cook up a storm in aid of The Little Princess Trust Charity

A magnificent masterchef day

Last Thursday, 7th June, we were joined by a charming pair of celebrity chefs (Billy and Jack), who travelled to Herefordshire for a phenomenal cause (The Little Princess Trust Charity.)

Guests were greeted with a delicious British Cassis cocktail “The Hereford Mule”, complimented by bright blue skies and beaming sunshine. Guests travelled from all over the country to gather at this stunning Herefordshire location and it was great to hear how far they had come for this special day. Whilst mingling in the gardens and grounds, guests were able to acquire tips off the Masterchef finalists, enjoy listening to the boys stories and discuss their favourite dishes. We were honoured to be joined by the lovely ladies from The Little Princess Trust, who were just delightful and a true inspiration to so many of us. 

To finish the day, Ben lit the fire pit in the Veil Garden. Guests snuggled up with blankets, sipping Pol Roger Champagne and sharing memories of their day, before making their way to the boutique style Lodges for their overnight stay. 

Billy Wright and Jack Layer’s Cookery Demonstration

Ladies and Gents took their seats in the 19th Century Coach House, which has been extensively renovated in recent years by the Owen family. The Coach House boasts beautiful cut glass chandeliers and an imposing arched window which looks out onto the property’s Courtyard, to name but a few features.  Billy and Jack took to the stage to perform their very first cookery demonstration of the season, and what a demonstration is was! From the minute they began, they had the audience completely captivated and laughing throughout. It was evident that the pair have a very tight bond and certainly know a thing or two in the kitchen. Not only did they show off their wares, but they also shared their knowledge and passion for food, and a jolly good time whilst cooking and entertaining! 

The duo demonstrated a mouth-watering starter- “63 Degree Egg Asparagus”. This delicious dish included a precisely cooked organic egg, pickled Wye asparagus (one of Billy and Jack’s favourite veg), pea veloute and chive oil. 

 

A stunning three course Lemore lunch

Lemore Manor’s light filled Orangery was the chosen spot to enjoy an indulgent three course lunch with plenty of wines. After being introduced to the 63 degree starter dish in the Coach House, it was only right to begin with this- and how delicious it was. This was followed by a spectacular main course- “free range roast chicken broth, Jersey royals and vegetables”. This consisted of confit Jersey royals, chicken, courgette puree, yellow courgette and little gem. To finish, guests were treated to “Apple Tart a la Lady Portarlington”- apple terrine, clotted cream ice cream, shortbread biscuit base and a calvados brandy snap. 

Local businesses very kindly donated raffle prizes and offered their talents to support us. To complete a wonderful dining experience in the Orangery, Margaret and Ben were thrilled to present a cheque to The Little Princess Trust for £2400! 

 

About The Little Princess Trust

The Herefordshire charity was launched by husband and wife team, Wendy and Simon in 2006 after experiencing the loss of their young daughter to a Wilms tumour. The charity provides real hair wigs for children and young adults across the UK and Ireland who have sadly lost their hair due to cancer treatment. 

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, recently donated some of her luscious locks to the Little Princess Trust. This has had a tremendous impact on the charity in raising awareness to children and families across the UK that could benefit, and build back their confidence with a free real hair wig. 

Margaret and Ben are very proud to announce that they raised a total of £2858.00 for the Little Princess Trust. This money will mean that the charity can purchase 6 more real hair wigs- incredible!!
